Local activities
These are some of the local attractions we have found on extensive research driving round the area. This is by no means all that is available and if you find something of interest please note it in the guest book. We will investigate and provide details on this page.
Eguzon and the Lake
The damming of the Creuse in the 1920's created L'ac Chambon (locally named L'ac d'Eguzon) which is 16 kms long. Various watersport activities are on offer including water-ski-ing (in designated areas), with tuition available for beginners upwards. In the season there is a banana boat towed behind a speedboat which people hang on to and inevitably and spectacularly fall/fly off to the amusement of all spectators. You can learn to sail and windsurf and, if you have time, take the motor boat test (a four week course with practical and theory tests which permits you to drive boats with engines larger than 6h.p. on the lake) and then take your time discovering the beautiful water-side picnic spots, cruise up to Crozant and take one of the many spectacular walks before retiring to a local café or bar.
At Chambon there is a beautiful sandy beach, which is ideal for all the family. The area is well supervised by qualified lifeguards during the summer season. As jet skis are NOT allowed, the lake tends to be quiet and very safe.... motor boats are restricted to a very slow speed around the public areas making the whole L'ac Chambon (L'ac d'Eguzon) experience stress free, restful and safe.

At the southern end of the lake, at Crozant, the gorge provides several superb walks. Each with unusual features and wonderful views. No wonder this was where the impressionist painters came for inspiration!
